Mrs Maria Tsimpida

Paediatric Ophthalmology Consultant

MD,PhD, MRCOphth

"Spire is a very organised hospital with high standard facilities and very experienced personnel with the aim to provide high-quality patient care."

I have been a Paediatric Ophthalmology Consultant for the last seven years. I can manage any eye condition in children from birth until 16 years of age.

I specialise in Paediatric Ophthalmology Surgery with specific interest in squints, eyelid lesions removal and treatment of watery eyes. I am also performing refraction (determination of glasses or contact lenses prescription) and treating amblyopia (lazy eye).

I have performed around 500 squint operations, around 600 nasolacrimal duct probings and over 650 eyelid cyst removals.

I am the lead of the Paediatric Ophthalmology Department in two busy hospitals in East London (Whipps Cross University Hospital and Newham University Hospital) and I am also working at The Royal London Hospital, which is a major trauma centre. Being a consultant in three major London teaching hospitals has given me a high degree of experience to deal with a wide range of paediatric ophthalmology conditions.
