MBBS MS FRCSEng(Plast)
I have 18 years of experience as a surgeon. My NHS practice involves the surgical treatment of breast disease, skin cancers and reconstruction. I am a member of both skin and breast cancer MDTs. I am one of the few plastic surgeons in the UK who is fully trained to perform primary breast cancer surgery in addition to reconstruction.
I am a plastic surgeon on the GMC specialist register and specialise in breast and skin cancer. As an oncoplastic surgeon, I aim to minimise deformity following the treatment of breast and skin cancer. I have specific interest in ‘fat grafting’ / ‘lipomodelling’ which is a technique where fat is taken from one part of the body and injected into another for reconstruction or enhancement. This is ideal for women seeking breast augmentation with their tissue without the use of implants.
I obtained my primary medical degree from the University of Delhi, where I was ranked 1st in the highly competitive Indian National Postgraduate Entrance Exam. I then completed my plastic training in London as part of the Pan Thames training programme, gaining a wide range of experience in cancer reconstruction.
My training was complemented by two prestigious fellowships, the microsurgery fellowship at the Royal Marsden Hospital and the National TIG (training interface group) fellowship in breast cancer.
A special interest in fat grafting and regenerative medicine, led me to establish the lipomodelling service at Whipps Cross Hospital. I use fat grafting for the treatment of contour deformities, scars and as an adjunct to reconstructive surgery.
In addition to clinical practice, I am the audit, quality improvement and research lead for the Breast Unit at Whipps Cross. I am also a member of iBRA net, a group for innovation and evaluation of new surgical techniques and products, also principle investigator for two national studies on the NIHR portfolio.
Within these roles, I remain at the forefront of my profession, ensuring that my skills and knowledge are kept up to date. This helps to bring the best possible care to all my patients, tailored to their individual needs.
