I am a Consultant Anaesthetist specialising in pain medicine.
I have a background working in a tertiary referral, specialist pain service having trained in London and the North West.
I am the faculty tutor for pain medicine at Salford Royal, the Manchester University lead for undergraduate pain medicine and am regional lead on the faculty of pain medicine advisory group for undergraduate education for the North West. I am also a committee member on the British Pain Society Education Committee.
I have a specialist interest in minimally invasive treatments to help a variety of pains including back pain, leg pain, knee pain and use techniques such as radiofrequency ablation to help patients manage and reduce their pain. I work closely with neurosurgical, spinal and orthopaedic colleagues to ensure the best possible outcomes are achieved.
As a consultant I have continued my interest in minimally invasive interventions to reduce pain, particularly for back and knee pain. I also have an ongoing interest in education with numerous different educational leadership roles within pain medicine and a research interest in pain and metabolic disease.
Having completed medical school at the University of Edinburgh, which included a degree in virology, I continued my training in London in anaesthesia and pain medicine. I then completed my registrar training in the North West undertaking advanced pain medicine training. I have completed the fellowship of the Royal College of Anaesthetists by examination and the Fellowship of the Faculty of Pain Medicine also by examination.
