I have been practicing paediatrics for more than 40 years. I have worked at University Hospital of North Midlands, Stoke-on-Trent as a Consultant Paediatrician with a special interest (and Lead Clinician) in Paediatric Neurology, Epilepsy and Neuro-disability for more than 20 years. I was an Honorary Consultant in the department of Paediatric Neurology at Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital from 2002 till 2018 and worked in the tertiary complex epilepsy clinics.
I have vast experience in treating children with neurological disorders, epilepsy, headaches, movement disorders, tics and Tourette syndrome, neuro-genetic conditions and neuro-disabilities.
I am a national and international tutor on Paediatric Epilepsy Training (PET) run by British Paediatric Neurology Association. I am part of the team that has set up a one-day national training programme on Childhood Headaches (CHaT1) for British Paediatric Neurology Association for Consultant Paediatricians and other doctors. I am regularly teaching and charing CHaT1 courses, which are running very successfully all over the country since 2013 with excellent feedback. I am also on the ChaT1 steering group to regularly update the course.
I was trained and worked as a Paediatrician in India for 14 years in major teaching hospitals and tertiary centres. I was a Reader (Associate Professor) in Paediatrics in the University of Delhi. Five postgraduate MD students completed their thesis under my supervision. I have published several articles in medical journals and contributed chapters to books. I was also on the editorial board of Indian Paediatrics (official journal of Indian Academy of Paediatrics) while working in India.
I am continuing my interest in medical education and teaching and practicing Evidence Based Medicine. My personal interests are in music and practicing and propagating healthy lifestyle measures.
