Virtual consultations:
I am a Consultant General and Colorectal Surgeon and the lead for colorectal cancer at Manchester Royal Infirmary, a tertiary referral centre and one of the UK's leading NHS trusts. After qualifying in 2003 and completing my basic surgical training in Yorkshire, I undertook a period of clinical research at the University Hospital of South Manchester investigating the pathophysiology of pelvic floor pathology.
I then completed my higher surgical training in the North West, gaining expertise in general and colorectal surgery at all the major tertiary centres. My specialist interest is in minimally invasive (keyhole) surgery and I undertook a fellowship in advanced laparoscopic colorectal surgery in Yorkshire prior to taking up my consultant post.
I have published widely and presented at both national and international meetings. I am actively involved in research and recruit patients to a number of national multicentre clinical trials.
My aim is to deliver patient-centred care, building a relationship based on trust and clear communication. I offer best surgical management founded on evidence based practice for general and colorectal surgical conditions including haemorrhoids, anal fissure/fistula, pilonidal sinus, hernias, abdominal pain, rectal bleeding, change in bowel habit, inflammatory bowel disease, functional bowel disease, diverticular disease and bowel cancer.

Away from work I enjoy the outdoors and spending time with my family. I enjoy most sports, particularly tennis and rugby and help out coaching my son’s junior rugby team on a Sunday. I am also a keen skier and fair weather windsurfer.
