Specialises in
I am a fellowship-trained Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in knee and hip surgery.
I specialise in knee and hip surgery, with specific expertise in performing arthroscopic (keyhole) reconstructive or repair surgery for ligament (including the anterior cruciate ligament), cartilage and meniscal injuries of the knee. I offer injectable biologic therapies including PRP and I have particular interests in the treatment of patella instability and anterior knee pain. I also regularly perform total knee and total hip replacements, and I am very much a proponent of partial knee replacement surgery, when appropriate, using implants that have the best long term results in the UK.
Having started my consultant practice in 2017, I provide expertise in reconstructive and repair surgery for sports knee injuries, in addition to modern surgical techniques for treating both early and established arthritis of the knee and hip.
My surgical experience has had the benefit of working in highly regarded centres with world renowned surgeons and provided me with the skills to deal with a wide range of patients in my field, from professional athletes to older individuals - in order to help each of them reach their full potential.
Originally from Manchester, I qualified from the University of Leeds in 2005 and undertook my orthopaedic training on the Yorkshire Specialist Training Rotation, which culminated in achieving the FRCS (2014) and my entry on to the Specialist Register in 2015. Following this, my subspecialist training was acquired from highly regarded Knee Fellowships with internationally renowned knee surgeons, namely Prof Nick London in Harrogate and BOA past president, Mr Tim Wilton. I further enhanced my skills by completing a prestigious international year-long Fellowship under the expert tutelage of Dr Jeff Gollish at Toronto’s Sunnybrook Hospital – a designated ‘Centre of Excellence’ and Canada’s highest volume joint replacement centre.
I am Clinical Supervisor for junior doctors in training and I am a Clinical Tutor with Manchester University for senior medical students.
Within my practice there is much emphasis placed on achieving excellent outcomes, based on maintaining high standards of care, tailored to the individual. Above all else, I am dedicated to patient-centred care and I am driven by my commitment to providing patients the right treatment at the right time.
