I have vast experience for conducting cranial and spinal surgeries in adult and children. In addition to my expertise in the full range of both brain and spinal neurosurgery, I have special interests in spinal disc degenerative disease, chiari malformation along with paediatric neurosurgery.

I have a special interest in minimally invasive spinal surgery and artificial disc replacement. I have extensive experience in dealing with all sorts of spinal conditions and regularly perform various neurosurgical and spinal operations including lumbar microdiscectomy, laminectomy, spinal instrumentation, anterior cervical discectomy fusion and artificial disc replacement, spinal tumours.

I also regularly perform cranial surgery for brain tumours, hydrocephalus and other common brain conditions. I regularly perform cortisone spinal injection including facet joints injections and both cervical and lumbar epidurals.

I have extensive experience in dealing with children’s spinal condition and perform complex spinal surgeries including instrumental spinal fusion on children with complex congenital spinal anomalies. I have particular interest in dealing with chiari malformation and myelomeningocele and cranio-cervical anomalies endoscopic neurosurgery.

I completed my FRCSEd in surgery at the Royal College of Surgeon in Edinburgh and completed my neurosurgery training in Coventry and Manchester. Subsequently, I gained specialist training in spinal surgery and paediatric neurosurgery in Manchester and Canada.

I then went to Canada for sub-specialty training. I completed my fellowship in functional neurosurgery at the University of Toronto in 2004 and then in paediatric neurosurgery at University of British Columbia Vancouver in 2006.

I later joined the University Hospital in Cardiff as a Consultant Neurosurgeon in 2006 and developed a special interest in paediatric neurosurgery and spinal surgery and subsequently moved to Manchester in 2012 and maintained similar skills and interests.

Currently I’m working as a consultant in neurosurgery and spinal surgery at Salford Royal Hospital Manchester and as a consultant in paediatric neurosurgery at Royal Manchester Children Hospital.

I also work as a clinical tutor in Manchester University and I’m actively involved in teaching and training junior doctors.
