Mrs Mira de Kruijf

Consultant Paediatric Otolaryngologist

MBBChBAO, DO-HNS, FRCS (ORL-HNS), PhD

I have worked as a Consultant Paediatric Otolaryngologist at the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital (RMCH) from 2016. The scope of my practice is entirely dedicated to children. I am on the Local Scientific Committee for the European Society of Paediatric Otolaryngology (ESPO), and hold memberships with the British Association for Paediatric Otolaryngology (BAPO) and ENT:UK.

My sub-specialty areas of interest include general paediatric ENT (tonsillitis, snoring, glue ear, tongue tie, nasal obstruction), sleep disordered breathing, neck lumps and lymphocystic malformations as well as the management of drooling and progressive airway obstruction in children. I have an active research interest and completed a PhD in cancer immunology in 2013.

I have authored five book chapters on paediatric ENT and have presented, by invitation, at numerous clinical and scientific meetings. I have experience in the design, development and delivery of simulation-based training in paediatric ENT. I am registered with the North West Simulation Education Network as a simulation trainer and have facilitated international simulation sessions.

I am an Advanced Paediatric Life Support instructor, a member of the Paediatric National Tracheostomy Safety Project, and am a named champion on the Improving Tracheostomy Care/Global Tracheostomy Collaborative.
