Registered General, Enrolled Nurse General
I qualified as an enrolled nurse general in 1981 at Stepping Hill Hospital, Stockport and was employed on a general medical ward. I returned to study and proceeded to complete my registered general nurse qualification in 1983, before returning to a general medicine environment as a staff nurse.
In 2001, I joined Spire Manchester Hospital as a staff nurse, caring for patients having various surgical procedures acquiring very valuable knowledge and skills, including a mentorship qualification of student nurses, manual handling coordinator for the hospital and bariatric link ward nurse. During this time I also became a senior staff nurse and then ward sister.
I joined the bariatric department as specialist nurse in September 2011, since then I have acquired knowledge and skills that allow me to advise and care for our bariatric patients. I have continued to build my bariatric knowledge and skills as joint team lead with my colleague, dietitian, Jennie Taylor.
COVID-19 testing or antibody tests are not available as a standalone service at Spire Manchester Hospital.
