I am a Consultant Surgeon specialising in ear, nose and throat conditions. I’ve got over 20 years’ experience and always aim to give my patients a balanced view about the best treatment options available. My approach is to treat my patients as I would wish members of my family to be treated, or would like to be looked after myself. In my clinic I will always give patients plenty of time and do my best to discuss and explain the nature of the problem. I will give a balanced opinion and only recommend surgery if there is evidence that it is effective, and the benefits clearly outweigh the risks.
I trained in ENT surgery in Oxford and Manchester. In 1995 I undertook a fellowship at the University of Illinois, Chicago, and completed my doctorate thesis a year later. In 1998 I was appointed as a Consultant ENT Surgeon at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital, Sheffield, before returning as a Consultant to the University Department of Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery at the Manchester Royal Infirmary in January 2004.
My expertise has been recognised with an award of an Honorary Clinical Professorship at Edge Hill University and two NHS National Clinical Excellence Awards.
I teach and lecture about this field of surgery in the UK and internationally, and I am a past President of the ENT Facial Plastic Surgery Society, and President Elect of the Section of Laryngology and Rhinology of the Royal Society of Medicine.
