Our therapists and clinical governance
Who will my therapist be?
Your therapy will be provided by Vita Health Group who are part of Spire Healthcare. When you sign up for Spire Mental Health, you’ll be signing up to Vita Health privacy notice and terms and conditions. All our therapists hold a Post graduate diploma in CBT, are BABCP Accredited and have DBS checks.
What happens if I'm not happy with my chosen therapist?
We ensure that any difficulties are resolved promptly to prevent an ineffective unsatisfactory therapy experience, which includes the ability to change your therapist.
Are your therapists accredited?
In the UK, anyone can claim to be a psychotherapist or CBT therapist. To ensure your safety, we rigorously verify therapists’ qualifications, accreditations, DBS checks, and insurance. Regular audits maintain this information for every therapist we collaborate with. All our therapists hold a Post graduate diploma in CBT, are BABCP Accredited and have DBS checks.
What happens if I need extra support from other professionals
If you need additional support (eg from a GP or psychiatrist), we arrange referrals at no extra cost.
During and after appointments
What should I expect at my first appointment?
You will discuss your difficulties with a qualified therapist and together decide the best way to achieve your goals.
Are your services confidential?
Yes, all our services are confidential.
Does my medical history matter?
Your assessing therapist will be interested in similar or related problems you may have had in the past to help guide your treatment. However, the focus of the treatment will be on the here and now and what can be done to help you progress.
What if I’m already receiving treatment?
If you're already receiving treatment for your mental health, it is not usually recommended to start another course of treatment.
However, if you have concerns about this it can be discussed with your therapist at assessment.
What do the treatment sessions involve?
You will meet with your therapist for around an hour a week to discuss agreed topics in a solution-focused and practical way. You will learn techniques for improving your symptoms and changing your behaviour, and gradually learn to become your own therapist.
What if I can’t make an appointment?
Please let us know as soon as possible if you need to cancel or rearrange an appointment. If you don’t attend or cancel within 24 hours of your appointment, you may be subject to charges, and frequent cancellations will impact on your progress.
Appointment cancellation and non-attendance
Once you’ve signed up to the service, it’s important that you attend your appointments. Regular attendance will provide for better results with your treatment.
Cancellations less than 24 hours of the scheduled appointment are marked as a ‘Did Not Attend’ appointment (DNA) which is classified as an appointment that has been cancelled with less than 24 hour’s notice or where you were uncontactable for your scheduled appointment. You will not be refunded for the cost of your appointment.
Cancellations more than 24 hours of your scheduled appointment are able to be rescheduled via the portal or cancelled and you will receive a refund of your session cost.
For further information please see our Cancellation and Non-Attendance Policy.
