I have been a Consultant in Diabetes and Endocrinology at Mid Yorkshire Hospitals since 2006, having received my specialist training in Nottingham and Derby. I have had extensive clinical experience in all aspects of specialist Diabetes and Endocrinology and have held a number of important clinical leadership roles to date.
My expertise is in Diabetic Foot Disease having developed and delivered a nationally commended multi-disciplinary foot protection team. Within Endocrinology I have extensive experience in the management of Pituitary, Thyroid and Parathyroid disease, Osteoporosis, Metabolic Bone Disease and Erectile Dysfunction. I have significant specialist experience in the investigation and management of Hypertension and raised cholesterol.
I am the Clinical Lead for the Wakefield Diabetes Clinical Network, that has been instrumental locally in the development and consolidation of local services for people with Diabetes. I am also the Diabetes UK Local Clinical Champion. I am the Clinical Governance Lead for Diabetes and Endocrinology at Mid Yorkshire NHS Hospitals. Until recently I was the Clinical Lead for Diabetes Inpatient Services at Mid Yorkshire Hospitals.
I am the Undergraduate Placement Lead for Diabetes and Endocrinology for Final Year Medical Students from Leeds University and am involved in OSCE examinations for undergraduate medical students. I also mentor podiatrists and diabetes nurses for the prescribing qualification from the University of Huddersfield
I have an active research interest and am an investigator for a number of commercial and academic clinical trials in diabetes, cardiovascular medicine and diabetic foot disease.
Some of my recent awards and achievements include: In recognition of my contribution to the development and delivery of local services I have achieved Local Clinical Excellence Award Level 5 in 2016. National Quality in Care Award (Highly commended; September 2015): I led on the development of a Local MDT Diabetic Foot Protection Team. This was set up to streamline patient referral pathways and minimise harmful delays in the patient journey.

In my free time I enjoy a spot of gardening and cooking exotic dishes. As a father of a 11 and a 13 year old I also run a demanding Dad's taxi service!
