MD, PhD, MRCS, FRCS (Plast)
I have been working in NHS for over 15 years with recognised training in reconstructive and cosmetic plastic surgery. I graduated from University of Athens Medical School in 2009 and continued with my basic surgical training in Liverpool. At the same time after research on DIEP Clinical anatomy I was awarded a PhD with honours in 2013. My higher surgical training in Plastic Surgery was completed in Yorkshire and Liverpool including a cosmetic fellowship in the North West. After that I completed two breast reconstruction micro surgical fellowships in the two of the most prestigious hospitals in the UK; The Royal Marsden Hospital in Chelsea and Guy's & St Thomas’ Hospitals in London.
The experience I gained in recreating a breast after a mastectomy has allowed me to have a deeper understanding of the surgical anatomy and aesthetics of the ideal breast. This can be translated in cosmetic surgery when we perform breast augmentation reduction or uplift. At the same time this field has granted me a vast experience in cosmetic abdominoplasty, as it is a part of the procedure when we perform microsurgical breast reconstruction. Abdominoplasty can be enhanced with liposuction or muscle repair if there is a separation after pregnancy.
Skin cancer is one of the most common cancers where early diagnosis and treatment is critical. I have experience treating any type of skin cancer including Basal Cell Carcinoma, Squamous Cell Carcinoma and Melanoma.
I offer the whole spectrum of Breast and Body Cosmetic Surgery. This includes breast augmentation with implants, fat transfer, breast reduction or uplift, abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) and liposuction. We can combine breast and body enhancement in one procedure usually after pregnancy known as "mommy makeover". When it comes to replacing loss of breast volume we can use implants or your own tissue a technique called "auto-augmentation".
I am trained in surgical and non-surgical facial rejuvenation. That includes removal of skin excess in eyelids called blepharoplasty, as well toxin and filler injections.
I work as a Consultant in Mid Yorkshire Teaching Hospitals specialising in breast reconstruction and skin cancer surgery. At the same time I hold a position of an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Leeds.
Along with clinical medicine I have an interest in education and research. I have more than 20 publications in peer reviewed journals and a PhD in microsurgical breast reconstruction. At the same time my role as an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Leeds entails teaching medical students on a regular basis. When it comes to plastic surgery training, I have the role of Education Lead in my unit and I have also developed a course called "The Yorkshire FRCS (Plast) course" which supports trainees from across the UK during their exit exam. My contribution in training was recognised with a first Award in Innovation in BAPRAS meeting in 2021 after designing a new training simulator.
