"I chose Spire for my practice for its caring, friendly and highly skilled team, who aims to make your journey as smooth and as enjoyable as possible."
I have been a Consultant Plastic Surgeon since 2016 and in my NHS practice I specialise in breast reconstructive surgery after breast cancer and congenital asymmetries, facial reconstruction for skin cancer, lower limb reconstruction and hand surgery. I have been drawn to aesthetic surgery due to its unique challenges and opportunities.
After graduating from University of Bucharest and achieving my medical degree in 1999, I began an extensive and rigorous programme of training in Plastic Surgery and relocated to the UK to further my qualifications and training. I undertook fellowships in microsurgical breast reconstruction, skin cancer, hand surgery and cosmetic surgery at the renowned St Andrew’s Centre for Plastic Surgery and Burns in Chelmsford, Queen Victoria Hospital in East Grinstead and Royal Free Hospital in London. I then secured my International Fellowship at the prestigious John Hunter Hospital in Newcastle, NSW, Australia honing my skills in complex reconstructions, utilising tissues from other parts of the body to rebuild areas affected by injury.
In 2013 I was awarded the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in Plastic Surgery and I am on the GMC Specialist Register as a plastic surgeon. I have a PhD from University of Bucharest for a five-year period of medical research I undertook in free tissue transfer and a MSc from University of Manchester for my research in hand surgery. I have the honour of being one of the few Plastic Surgeons in the United Kingdom to hold both British and European Diplomas, as well as the BSSH MSc in Hand Surgery.
I teach on the Intercollegiate Plastic Surgery Exam Course for Higher Surgical Trainees annually for several years and on the Cadaveric Skills Course at Manchester University Skill Simulation Lab.
