I have been a Consultant ENT Surgeon for 24 years. My areas of expertise include general ENT conditions such as nasal, sinus and throat disorders as well as hearing, ear and balance disorders. I also manage snoring problems while I investigate and diagnose patients with cancer of the head and neck. I prefer patients requiring major surgery to colleagues whose practice is dedicated to Oncology.
I am first and foremost a general ENT surgeon with interests in Rhinology (Nasal Conditions), Otology (Ear Conditions), Snoring surgery.
I introduced Endoscopic Sinus Surgery to the Wirral. I was the first ENT surgeon in England to purchase a microbrider (now the main instrument used in FESS). I perform all the routine procedures such as Tonsillectomy, Adenoidectomy, Middle Ear surgery and parotid surgery.
I am presently the Chief Medical Information Officer for Wirral University Teaching Hospital Trust. This role involves innovating and leading other clinicians to make best use of digitally enabled healthcare. Wirral is one of the leaders worldwide and has been designated as a "global digital exemplar".
My previous roles are the Clinical lead for ENT, Clinical Director for Special Surgery, Associate Medical Director of Division of Surgery, Chair of the Medical Board, Member of Spire Murrayfield Medical Advisory Committee.

Personal profile
While clinical work and my informatics role take up a huge amount of my time I have interests in photography and DIY projects. I have just renewed my interests in "growing your own" by taking on an allotment with my wife Anne. Going to the cinema and home theatre is part of the less strenuous pastimes I engage in. Life begins again when you have grown up "children".
