Mr Michael Ellard

Consultant Gynaecologist

MB ChB, FRCOG

"I enjoy the friendly atmosphere at Spire Murrayfield Wirral and value the professionalism of the staff."

I am a native of Northern Ireland and graduated from Queen's University Belfast in 1992. I moved to England in 1996 where I initially trained in IVF at the Royal United Hospital, Bath. During this post I was responsible for setting up the hospital's egg donation service. I moved to the Mersey region in 1999 to complete my specialist training in obstetrics and gynaecology and became a consultant at Wirral University Teaching Hospitals (WUTH) in 2005.

I set up the fertility service there and now provide a satellite IVF service in conjunction with the Hewitt Centre in Liverpool. I provide a holistic approach to the management of couples and can provide advice and access to all fertility treatment options. In addition to my reproductive medicine specialist interests, I have a recurrent miscarriage clinic.

I undertake minimally invasive surgery for a wide range of gynaecological conditions including hysterectomy and removal of fibroids.

I have an extensive non clinical workload which includes; clinical service lead for women's services at WUTH and I am the training programme director for senior O&G trainees within the North West of England.
