A busy NHS Consultant in a major university teaching hospital and Professor of Medicine at the University of Liverpool.
I have a significant academic and clinical interest in obesity and type 2 diabetes with a focus on related complications including sleep apnoea, fatty liver disease and polycystic ovary syndrome. Newer treatment approaches that promote weight loss are particularly relevant to me.
I also have a major endocrine interest in adrenal, thyroid and pituitary disease and lead aspects of adrenal and neuroendocrine tumour multi-disciplinary care at my hospital site (Aintree).
I have a strong and active research profile, publishing over 140 original articles (PubMed) including in The Lancet and BMJ. I also work with the Diabetic Medicine and Diabetologia journals.
I was awarded a Personal Chair at the University of Liverpool.
