Spire Murrayfield Hospital, Wirral sponsors National Sailing Championships

Spire Murrayfield Hospital, Wirral sponsored the UK International Dart Association (UKIDA) Dart 18 Catamaran Championships at Dee Sailing club this year.
Forty five of Britain’s best sailors took to the waters of the River Dee as a top Wirral yacht club hosts a national catamaran championship over the Bank Holiday weekend, running from Saturday 25 May to Monday 27 May.
The overall objective of UKIDA is to encourage sailing at all levels.
Andrew Potter, Commodore at Dee Sailing Club, said: “We are delighted that Spire Healthcare were our primary sponsors this year. Their sponsorship has allowed us to arrange what has been a really fantastic event”.
John Worthington, Vice Commodore at Dee Sailing Club, said: “It’s been a wonderful day of sailing with 45 boats taking part today. We are very proud of this great event”.
This is second time that the UKIDA Dart National Championships have been held at Dee Sailing Club being one of the most popular places on the circuit in terms of competitor needs and the social aspect following competition.
Jon Smith, Committee Member at Dee Sailing Club and Rescue Boat Driver, was on hand during the event to prioritise the safety of the sailors and their boats in the changing weathers. Jon said: “This is a big event for us and will bring a lot of money into the club. We appreciate all the sponsorship we have had from various organisations. Our aim is to run a national event at Dee Sailing Club every few years. We are a fun club”.
Congratulations to David Lloyd and Jojo from Stokes Bay Sailing Club for ranking 1st at the event, closely followed by Mat Exton and Jakob from Royal Yorkshire Yacht Club, and Grant and Ellamay Piggott from Weston Siling Club.
