I am a consultant spinal surgeon at Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Trust treating patients with all forms of spinal conditions affecting the cervical, thoracic, lumbar and sacral spine. This includes degenerative spinal problems (disc protrusions, spinal stenosis), spinal fractures, spinal infections, secondary spinal tumours and spinal deformities [scoliosis and kyphosis] in both children and adults. I have a special interest in complex surgeries with a particular focus on revision (redo) spinal surgeries and deformities.

Following orthopaedic and spinal training at hospitals in Derby and Nottingham, I completed several fellowships in complex spinal surgery at Utrecht Medical Centre in Holland, Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in London, Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals, and travelling fellowships at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, USA and Queen Mary Hospital, Hong Kong.

I am actively involved in teaching and training orthopaedic and spinal registrars on the East Anglia orthopaedic rotation. I am a regular faculty member on several FRCS preparation courses and coordinate the Senior Norwich Spinal Fellowship, training senior spinal surgeons for future consultant positions. I am also regularly invited to be on the faculty of esteemed national and international spinal meetings, and teaching courses. I hold honorary academic positions in several overseas universities.

I have a keen interest in research and have published extensively, with over 30 peer reviewed publications and book chapters. I review articles for several orthopaedic and spinal journals, and am actively involved in high impact research studies both nationally and internationally.
