After eight years at university, an MSc in sports medicine and two years of junior doctor placements, I undertook 10 years of surgical training based in Edinburgh. I was awarded the fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh in 2011.
My NHS practice is at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital and is dedicated to foot and ankle surgery.
Before starting work as an Orthopaedic Consultant I completed four specialist fellowships. These included six months at the Exeter Knee Reconstruction Unit and an AO trauma fellowship in Seattle, a unit widely recognised as the home of foot and ankle trauma surgery.
I was later awarded a 12 month fellowship at the world renowned Vancouver Trauma Unit where I was taught both trauma and sports injury surgery by world leaders in their respective fields. Finally I spent six months at the Fortius Clinic, London with Mr J Calder specialising in foot and ankle surgery. During this time I helped treat many premiership footballers and other professional athletes.
I have published and presented my research widely at both national and international meetings. I am an invited reviewer for the major British Orthopaedic journal, the JBJS. I have provided lectures and authored book chapters on various topics related to the foot and ankle, trauma and sports surgery.
