Specialises in
As a highly experienced Consultant Breast Surgeon, at Spire Norwich, I provide a rapid diagnosis service for women with concerns about their breasts.
I work alongside specialist breast radiologists and supportive breast care nurses so that on the first visit to us, you can have a full investigation. This will include a history and an examination, and specialist scans and biopsy, if needed.
All treatment is discussed at weekly multi-disciplinary meetings; this is best practice as recommended by the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE). The team strengths come together to consider options for a bespoke treatment plan for each patient. This is then fully discussed with you, the patient; importantly, I tailor what is best for you by taking time to listen to your views and talking through possible treatment options with you.
I have been a Consultant Breast Surgeon for almost 20 years, qualifying at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge, after studying medicine at Cambridge University, and researching for an MD in aspects of breast surgery there. I have specialist experience in breast pain and in a wide range of benign and malignant breast disease and surgical treatment, including cancer surgery. As a breast surgeon, my simple aim is to formulate the best possible professional care for my patients.
I have been Clinical Lead in a busy Breast Unit at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital for most of my consultant years. Alongside my NHS clinical commitments, I actively keep my skills and knowledge up to date by undertaking the teaching of medical students at the University of East Anglia, and also training GPs and junior surgeons. In the national landscape, I have helped to shape regional policy as the Chair of Cancer Networks in the Eastern Region for several years. Visits to other Breast Units across the UK have formed part of my quality assurance role. My knowledge and expertise are also enhanced by sitting as an invited specialist member on a number of NICE Diagnostic Assessment Committees.
As a dual specialty consultant, I also offer a full range of management for surgical problems affecting thyroid and parathyroid glands, including minimally invasive parathyroid surgery.
