Ms Emma Gampell

Highly Specialist Physiotherapist

MCSP

I am a Highly Specialist Physiotherapist, specialising in the treatment of people with Pelvic related problems.  In particular, the treatment of prolapse, genito-urinary symptoms of menopause, urinary continence disorders in both men and women, bowel problems and pelvic pain. I have also specialised in Spinal and knee problems as well as general Musculo-skeletal injuries and long-standing conditions.

I trained at King's College Hospital in London and qualified in 1982. I started my career working in the NHS in Chichester and Essex for 13 years. I left the NHS in 1995 and joined what was then BUPA Hospitals. In the last 30 years I have worked at three hospitals in the Spire Healthcare group including being the Physiotherapy Manager at Spire Hartswood Hospital in Brentwood. I moved to Norwich in 2008. I have completed several specialised POGP approved training courses and Masterclasses provided by international clinical experts in the treatment of a wide range of Pelvic Health conditions.

I care deeply about helping people and taking time to get to know each patient individually so that following your first assessment I can tailor a personal treatment plan to maximise your recovery, focussing around your work, exercise and recreational activities and helping you to keep fit and active and return to activities that you enjoy.

Treatment may include tailored exercises, biofeedback or muscle stimulation and advice on diet and managing activities of daily living. Working in the hospital environment means that I can liaise with the hospital consultants for appropriate further investigations and the management of complex cases.

I wanted to be a physiotherapist since I was aged 10 and studied at King's College Hospital, London, after leaving school . I am passionate about making a difference to my patients' lives, and believe in treating each person as an individual.

Outside of work I have travelled widely and enjoy wildlife and the countryside. My activities include walking, Pilates and photography.
