BMedSci (Hons), MBChB, FRCS, PhD
I am an alumnus of the University of Birmingham, University of Leeds and the London School of Economics and Politics. I have a PhD in Molecular Biology and am Honorary Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Nottingham.
My research interests are based around “Big data” analysis and improving access to clinical trials for all patients. I have published over 100 peer-reviewed scientific articles in the world’s leading surgical journals mainly in gallbladder surgery, emergency surgery and cancer surgery. I was recently named the President’s Lecturer in Upper Gastrointestinal Surgery for the Association of Surgeons and have won the John Farndon Prize for Best Paper in the British Journal of Surgery.
I trained in general and upper gastrointestinal and biliary surgery in Birmingham and Leeds. I am Head of Department at the Trent Oesophago-Gastric Unit at the Nottingham City Hospital.
My clinical interests include keyhole gallbladder operations, operations for reflux and hiatus hernias and abdominal wall hernia operations.
