Sports-type injuries can occur in active people of any age. In treating sports injuries at Spire Nottingham Hospital we use expertise gained through treating elite, high performance and professional athletes to benefit active patients of all ages and abilities.

Our sports injury clinic enables us to carefully assess your injury with access to a range of tests including X-rays, MRI and CT. We can then refer you to the appropriate specialist within the hospital for treatment.

We work closely with Professor Mark Batt and Dr Mark Gillett, Sports and Exercise Medicine Specialist who both have a wealth of experience.

Physiotherapy can help increase mobility in people of all ages  - including people recovering from a sports injury or regaining movement after an operation such as a hip replacement, or people managing long-term pain.

Patients receiving physiotherapy treatment at Spire Nottingham Hospital have their musculoskeletal conditions treated using the latest physiotherapy techniques and equipment. We have many of the latest generation physiotherapy machines not usually readily available on the NHS, such as an AlterG treadmill (which lowers the gravity on the treadmill and so the impact on joints) and gait analysis machine.

Sports massage is a deep tissue massage that loosens tight muscles and breaks down adhesions in muscle fibres. It aids your recovery from injuries or after surgery or it can be used as part of your training programme in connection with a warm up or a cool down.

Sports massage is not just for sportsmen or women! It can also be used as an adjunct to your normal physiotherapy treatment or simply to relieve muscle tension or treat repetitive strain injuries, which everyone experiences from time to time.
