I qualified in 1977 and was appointed a Consultant in Neurosurgical Anaesthesia at the Midland Centre for Neurology and Neurosurgery at Sandwell Hospital Group in 1987 transferring to The University Hospital Birmingham (Queen Elizabeth) in 2000 as a neurosurgical anaesthetist. I undertook extensive pain management duties within the department of neurosurgery up until 2018.
I became an independent practitioner in 2018 after having extensive experience in the NHS and privately delivering pain medicine with specialist knowledge and skill in spinal neurosurgical pain conditions, neuropathic and complex regional pain, widespread and facial pain and headaches. I am particularly interested in the causes and management of complex pain and I have run a pain relief clinic for over 18 years now.
I have presented widely on the management of pain conditions and taught extensively on airway management and fibre optic intubation techniques. I was also a Faculty Tutor on the MSc programme in Pain Medicine at the University of Edinburgh from 2014 until 2018.
My main hospital bases are Spire Little Aston and Spire Parkway hospitals, however I hold practicing privileges at Spire South Bank Hospital where appointments can be made on request.
Some of the principal treatments carried out by Dr Fraser Duncan at Spire include:

COVID-19 testing or antibody tests are not available as a standalone service at Spire Parkway Hospital.
