When should you be concerned with a change in bowel habits?
Dr Mark Cox, Consultant Gastroenterologist, says bowel habits are a very personal problem, and everyone's pattern is distinct, therefore it's critical to understand your own. While there is always some fluctuation, any shift that lasts more than two or three weeks is cause for alarm.
If you have a change in bowel habit for an extended length of time, or if you notice any blood with that change in bowel pattern, you should seek medical attention immediately because colon cancer could be the cause.
COVID-19 testing or antibody tests are not available as a standalone service at Spire Parkway Hospital.
