Virtual consultations:
I qualified and had initial postgraduate training in London. My later training included a Renal Fellowship at Washington University School of Medicine (St Louis, Missouri.) I was a Senior Registrar in Leicester, where I undertook further training in nephrology with Professor John Walls and gained my Doctor of Medicine (MD) in proteinuric renal disease. I also trained in hypertension with Professors John Swales, Bert Thurston and Bryan Williams. I have been a consultant physician in the West Midlands since 1998.
I have extensive clinical experience in nephrology, hypertension and internal medicine, which are the three areas of my NHS practice at Birmingham Heartlands and Solihull Hospitals. As a patient you will receive a thorough, patient-centred and modern service. This will include a full discussion of your condition and the tests and treatment needed for the best results.
I am an accredited Clinical Hypertension Specialist of the European Society of Hypertension. I have been a chair for a NICE guideline development group since 2011.
As a tutor, examiner and frequent lecturer I keep up to date with developments across internal medicine.
