I am well known in the UK for my advanced surgical skills for complex pelvic surgery. My medical training began in India and continued in England. The majority of my training took place at The Royal Free Hospital, London, where I worked in pelvic floor dysfunction and general gynaecology. I moved to Birmingham for sub specialisation in gynaecological oncology and I have been a Consultant Gynaecological Oncologist at Pan-Birmingham Gynaecological Cancer Centre since 2005.
I specialise in complex pelvic surgical procedures required in the management of advanced ovarian cancer and recurrent pelvic cancers. My second strength is advanced laparoscopic surgery for cervical, uterine and early ovarian cancers. My special interest is fertility preserving surgery like trachelectomy for cervical cancer, which I have modified and improved the techniques from, vaginal to abdominal and now laparoscopic approach.
I am actively involved in surgical training in both the UK and abroad. I am a programme director for sub-specialty training in Gynae-oncology at Birmingham. I regularly teach advanced laparoscopic surgical techniques at the European Surgical Institute at Hamburg, Germany and in India.
I regularly publish research and I am a reviewer for national and international Gynaecology and Gynae-oncology journals.
