I deal with most aspects of ophthalmology (excluding cataracts) with a subspecialist interest in cosmetic eyelid surgery oculoplastic, lacrimal and reconstructive surgery. I also have expertise in aesthetic (cosmetic) surgery and offer cosmetic blepharoplasties (upper and lower eyelids), brow lifts, botulinum toxin for facial lines and fillers (Restylane), scar free excision of moles, lumps and cysts.
My subspecialist interest is in ophthalmic plastic and reconstructive surgery including tightening of the eyelids, ptosis correction, eye removal, excision of moles and lumps and tear duct surgery. I have specific expertise in dealing with periocular (around the eye) malignancy and am the Lead Clinician of Ophthalmic Cancer Services at University Hospitals of Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust since 2003.
I joined the University Hospitals of Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust as a Consultant Ophthalmologist with a special interest in Oculoplastics, Orbital and Adnexal surgery in 2003. I have spent over 34 years in full-time ophthalmology gaining comprehensive training in all aspects of the field. I received my higher surgical training in ophthalmology at the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff. I then spent over two years sub-specialising in ophthalmic plastic and reconstructive surgery, first at Moorfields Eye Hospital, London and then at the Royal Perth Hospital, Perth Western Australia.
I have authored over 55 peer reviewed publications in international journals and undertaken 120 presentations at national and international meetings along with numerous invited lectures. I enjoy teaching and was appointed as a Professor of Ophthalmology at Aston Medical School in 2019. I have given numerous guest lectures and keynote addresses at prestigious international meetings. I regularly organise and host the Midland Oculoplastics Surgery Society meeting at Coventry which is CME accredited.
My training programme in oculoplastics is approved by the Royal College of Ophthalmologists London for senior registrars choosing to sub-specialise in ophthalmic plastic surgery.
I am currently Clinical Service Lead for Ophthalmology at University Hospital Coventry. I was Head of Postgraduate school of Ophthalmology in the West Midlands for seven years, preceded by training programme director and royal college tutor.
