I am an Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon and cancer lead for the Breast Services at University Hospital Birmingham NHS Trust. My experience over the years allows me to provide comprehensive care to men and women presenting with breast symptoms by offering benign, cosmetic and cancer treatments.
I aim to provide individualised care to my patients by combining the principles of plastic and cancer surgery (Oncoplastic Surgery). This enables me to offer the full spectrum of breast conserving cancer surgery options, including partial breast reconstruction, breast reduction surgery and breast reconstruction using implants.
I provide a full range of benign breast surgeries including correction of male breast enlargement (Gynaecomastia), treatment for nipple discharge, excision of breast skin lesion and benign breast lumps using cosmetically pleasing or concealed scars.
I understand and acknowledge the physical and emotional impact of cancer surgery and offer a full range of breast cancer treatment including diagnostic excision of breast lumps, lumpectomy, mastectomy, sentinel lymph node biopsy and axillary node clearance. I specialise in skin and nipple sparing mastectomy with immediate breast reconstruction using implants and offer simultaneous surgery on the opposite breast to achieve symmetry.
I offer various partial breast reconstruction options to facilitate breast preserving surgical options for women with breast cancer. By offering timely and individualised treatment options, I aim to enable and empower my patients to move forward after completion of their treatment.
I have trained and worked as a Breast Surgeon for over 10 years in the NHS. During my training, I was selected for the prestigious National TIG Oncoplastic Fellowship at Nottingham University Hospital. I worked as a Consultant Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon in the North West of England before joining University Hospital Birmingham.
I am the cancer lead for one of the largest breast services in the UK and thrive to provide exemplary and timely care for the people we serve. I have a vested interest in training the next generation of surgeons and in my current role provide training for national and international breast surgical fellows. I was awarded an MD for my research into male breast cancer from the University of Leeds and have published more than 20 peer reviewed articles in prestigious international journals. I am a member of the Cochrane group, which reflects my ongoing commitment to research and practicing evidence based medicine.
