I am a distinguished Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon at Sandwell and West Birmingham Hospitals NHS Trust. With over 20 years of experience, I specialise in upper limb surgery.
I specialise in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery with a specific focus on Upper Limb Surgery. My areas of expertise include shoulder and elbow surgery, hand and wrist surgery, microsurgery, and complex trauma management.
I have extensive experience in performing advanced procedures such as finger replantation and revascularisation, as well as arthroscopic surgeries and reconstructive techniques, My practice also involves collaborating closely with plastic surgeons to provide comprehensive care for upper limb conditions.
To date, I have performed over 6,000 surgical procedures, with a particular emphasis on upper limb surgery. This includes more than 40 successful finger replantations and revascularisations, along with numerous shoulder and elbow surgeries, hand surgeries, and advanced microsurgical techniques.
My extensive experience spans complex trauma management and reconstructive procedures, ensuring that I provide high-quality care to my patients in both my NHS and private practice and charitable medical missions.
In addition to my role as a Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon, I serve as the head of trauma services at Sandwell and West Birmingham Hospitals NHS Trust, where I oversee clinical practice and ensure high standards of patient care. I play a key role in developing the Black Country upper limb service.
I am actively involved in training the next generation of surgeons, mentoring national trauma and orthopaedics specialist trainees and supervising foundation trainees. I also lecture at Aston Medical School and the University of Birmingham, contributing to medical education and research.
Furthermore, I am a medical consultant for the global charitable organisation United Sikhs, providing medical aid on humanitarian missions in countries such as Malaysia and Indonesia. I recently participated in a charity project with the British Society for Surgery of the Hand (BSSH) in Malawi, where I performed surgeries and trained local doctors in hand surgery. These experiences not only enhance my clinical skills but also allow me to give back to the global community and promote surgical education and best practices.
