Your consultations
When you come to your first appointment, you’ll have a chance to meet one of our team of bariatric surgeons in one of our 14 private consultation rooms, all of which have easy access. During your consultation, your consultant will talk to you about your medical history. They’ll be able to explain:
There’ll be plenty of time to discuss any questions or concerns. You might find it helpful to think of some questions beforehand and make notes during your consultation.
Before going ahead with gastric sleeve surgery, you’ll need to have a pre-operative assessment which may include tests and scans.
When you arrive on the day of your surgery, we’ll show you to your own private en-suite room where you’ll have access to all the facilities you’d expect from a private hospital, including:
You’ll meet your consultant, anaesthetist and the surgical team. Before the operation, you’ll be given a general anaesthetic (so you'll be asleep) and once ready, your consultant will carry out the surgery to remove part of your stomach.
If you’ve come with a friend or family member, they’re welcome to wait in your private room while you have your operation.
The surgery usually takes one to two hours, but you’ll stay in hospital for up to three days after your surgery.
While you’re in the hospital, your nursing team will give you pain relief as and when you need it so that you’re comfortable as you recover.
We’ll have follow-up appointments with you after you leave hospital to check your recovery and weight loss progress.
