Phototherapy, otherwise known as light-therapy, consists of exposure to narrow band UVB light by means of treatment in a special light cabinet.
Treatment is normally given three times weekly and commonly lasts up to 6-8 weeks, depending on response of skin to therapy. The key to success with light therapy is consistency.
Initial treatment sessions may only last up to 45 seconds, but can gradually increase in length with each visit to a finishing session of up to 10 minutes.
We are committed to delivering excellent individual care and customer service across our network of hospitals, clinics and specialist care centres around the UK. Our dedicated and highly trained team aim to achieve consistently excellent results. For us it's more than just treating patients, it's about looking after people.
The treatment described on this page may be adapted to meet your individual needs, so it's important to follow your healthcare professional's advice and raise any questions that you may have with them.
