I qualified from St Bartholomew's Hospital Medical School in 1997. Having obtained my MRCP in 2001 I undertook Cardiology training in the Wessex area including specialist interventional fellowships in Southampton and Bournemouth.
I specialise in the assessment, investigation, and management of patients at risk of or with suspected or known cardiac (heart) problems. This includes patients with symptoms of chest pain, palpitations, breathlessness and funny turns as well as patients with concerns about their heart health. I sub-specialise in percutaneous coronary intervention (Angioplasty / Balloon and stent treatment of narrowing in the arteries around the heart).
I have performed over 2,500 coronary interventions since 2010. I perform over 95% of interventions from the wrist (radial artery).

I have authored or co-authored over 25 peer reviewed publications on topics including antiplatelet therapy, CT coronary angiography, and treatment of calcific coronary artery disease, coronary physiology and human factors. I have written book chapters in the Oxford Textbook of Interventional Cardiology and in “Management of Cardiovascular Conditions in Adults in Critical Care” and acted as an expert reviewer for NICE and medical student text books.

As a keen sportsman I represented the University of London at athletics and cricket, and played waterpolo and basketball at County level. I also like the challenge of endurance sporting events having completed amongst others "le Marathon de Sable" and the UK ironman triathlon.
I have travelled extensively with my wife. Highlights include dog-sledging in Greenland, treking in the Himalayas and the Andes, living with the Piaroa in the Orinoco and with Iban tribesmen in Borneo and travelling over 50,000km around Southern Africa in our own vehicle. I have a great interest in Natural History and wildlife photography.
