Dr Gurdeep S Dulay

Consultant Rheumatologist

BM BSc(Hons) FRCP

After completing undergraduate medical training and graduating with a distinction in BM Primary examination (University of Southampton). I undertook all my training within the local region and was successfully appointed as a Consultant Rheumatologist and Physician at Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust in 2017.

Currently, I am the only Consultant Rheumatologist contributing to acute/general medicine at Queen Alexandra Hospital Portsmouth. This gives me a greater understanding of how patients' other conditions can impact upon rheumatological diseases and treatments. This is highly useful in clinical practice. I have a broad clinical experience in Rheumatology and look after patients with a wide variety of conditions. I use ultrasound routinely in my NHS practice.

Although I have a working interest in axial spondyloarhtitis and early inflammatory arthritis, I regularly manage large numbers of patients with; osteoporosis, fibromyalgia, gout, osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, psoriatic arthritis and rarer autoimmune and auto-inflammatory diseases. I have extensive experience in carrying out joint injection procedures.

  • I am an Educational and Clinical Supervisor to junior doctors
  • I am involved in Education as a teacher for doctors and allied health professionals
  • I am an approved examiner for MRCP PACES
  • I have experience of examining at the University of Southampton Medical School exams
  • I have been invited to peer review journal articles and judge abstract submissions for national conference
