Mr William Green

Consultant Ophthalmologist

FRCOphth, FRCS, DO, BSc Physiol

My clinical practice encompass general eye conditions however, I specialise in cataract and vitreoretinal surgery and I regularly engage in teaching and training of junior surgeons.

I decided that I would study ophthalmology early in my medical student training and spent some time engaged in genetic research into retinoblastoma at The Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, Boston, USA as a medical student.

I qualified in Medicine at The Royal London Hospital and undertook training posts in neurosurgery and plastic surgery. I then completed my ophthalmic training at Portsmouth and in London at St Thomas' Hospital, Moorfields Eye Hospital and the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery at Queen's Square.

I was appointed to the post of Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon at Queen Alexandra Hospital in June 1995.

I am also a visiting fellow for the charities: Lifeline Express, in China and the World Sight Foundation. I undertake general ophthalmology and vitreoretinal outpatient clinics and surgery as well as laser and cataract operating lists.
