When you come to your first appointment, you’ll have a chance to meet one of our team of bariatric consultants in a private consultation room. During your consultation, your consultant will talk to you about your medical history. They’ll be able to explain:

Before going ahead with gastric sleeve surgery, you may also meet a psychologist, dietitian and anaesthetist so they can make further assessments on whether surgery is right for you.

When you arrive on the day of your surgery, we’ll show you to your own private en-suite room where you’ll have access to all the facilities you’d expect, including:
You’ll meet your consultant, anaesthetist and the surgical team. Before the operation, you’ll be given a general anaesthetic so you'll be asleep and once ready, your consultant will carry out the surgery to remove part of your stomach.
If you’ve come with a friend or family member, they’re welcome to wait in our restaurant while you have your operation.
The surgery usually takes one to two hours, but you’ll stay in hospital for up to three days after your surgery.
After surgery, our nursing team will give you pain relief to help you deal with any discomfort from the surgery.
Once you leave hospital, your consultant will arrange to see you a regular intervals.
The service includes a programme of support to help you monitor your diet and give you advice about eating. You consultant will explain this to you at your consultation.
