"At Spire Regency and Spire Manchester, patients enjoy outstanding care in superb facilities in a very convenient location."
I am a multi award winning, internationally renowned, Professor of Dermatology, Mohs Micrographic Surgeon, and laser surgeon. I am experienced in all aspects of dermatology, with expertise in skin cancer (including Mohs micrographic surgery), acne and rosacea, laser surgery and disorders of pigmentation.
I graduated from Trinity College, University of Cambridge, with a double first in pre-clinical medicine before completing clinical studies at Christ Church, University of Oxford. After general medical training in several of London’s leading teaching hospitals, I undertook dermatology training in Manchester. I am one of very few dermatologists to have been awarded Membership of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP), Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians (FRCP) and Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons (MRCS).
I then completed a highly competitive advanced dermatological surgery fellowship (including Mohs micrographic surgery and laser dermatology) in the world-renowned St Johns Institute of Dermatology based in Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospitals, London, where I continue to work as a Mohs micrographic and laser surgeon. I was subsequently awarded the British Cosmetic Dermatology fellowship for advanced training in skin pigmentation disorders and cosmetic dermatology in the National Skin Centre, Singapore and have undertaken additional training in the USA and France.
I have wide-ranging research experience with a PhD from the University of Cambridge and over 200 scientific and medical publications. This includes articles in nature, science, BMJ, The Lancet and the New England Journal of Medicine. I have been awarded multiple awards and scholarships throughout my career (including 18 national and international prizes) and was one of the lead consultants in the prestigious BMJ Dermatology Team of 2018. I am frequently asked to teach and lecture on my areas of expertise throughout the UK and internationally. I am an honorary professor of UCLAN.
I am regularly invited to feature in TV/media outlets, including the BBC, ITV, Channel 5, Daily Telegraph and Daily Mail and am frequently sought as a key opinion leader.
I am a medical advisor for Melanoma UK and specialist advisor and inspector for the Care Quality Commission (CQC). I am treasurer and executive committee member of the British Cosmetic Dermatology Group.
