I specialise in managing all aspects of Endocrinology including thyroid, parathyroid, adrenal, hypogonadism and pituitary. I arrange diagnostic investigations and treatment pathways. I am highly experienced in managing all aspects of diabetes and its complications including pre-diabetes and obesity.
I have a specific interest in patient education, insulin complex pathways and complications of diabetes such as renal disease and neuropathy.
I trained as a physician in general (internal) medicine, diabetes and endocrinology. In diabetes I have trained in diagnostics and management of this condition and its complications.
I have a large practice in endocrinology involving all aspects of endocrinology such as thyroid, metabolic disorders, adrenal and pituitary. I also have a large multidisciplinary practice in diabetes managing complex disease and leads on diabetic foot problems and nephropathy.
I have over 10 years experience as an Endocrinologist and Diabetologist in a large teaching university hospital practice. I am clinical lead within the department in my NHS practice. I have over 10 years experience as a general physician looking after in-patients and outpatient referrals.
I am clinical lead for Endocrinology at University Hospital South Manchester and I am the regional training programme director (TPD) in Endocrinology for higher specialist trainees in the North Western Deanery. I am member of the SAC in Endocrinology representing the North Western Deanery.
I am a teacher for undergraduate and postgraduate students in Manchester University. I am proud to be an honorary lecturer at the University of Manchester and Cardiff University. I organise national and local teaching to Primary and Secondary Care.
I qualified from Manchester University in 1993 and trained in Manchester and Liverpool Hospitals. I was a clinical research fellow in Liverpool studying aspects of retinopathy screening and have been published widely in this field. I have been a Consultant Physician in South Manchester since 2004. I have a holistic approach to managing patients with Endocrine and Diabetes disorders.
I am an associate editor for Diabetic Medicine Journal, regular reviewer of Diabetologia, Lancet and Diabetes Care Journal. I have been published widely in Diabetes and Endocrinology and have over 50 peer review publications. I contribute as editorial reviewer and reviewer of other medical journals.
