I am a Consultant Gynaecologist and Menopause Specialist at the Spire Regency Hospital Macclesfield. My NHS practice is based at the Mid-Cheshire Hospitals NHS FT (Leighton) and the Hewitt Fertility Centre (HFC) Knutsford (Liverpool Women’s Hospital NHS FT).

I am a British Menopause Society accredited menopause specialist being a named specialist on the British Menopause Society register.

I joined Mid-Cheshire Hospitals as a consultant in 2012 after completing my training in the Mersey rotation – Liverpool and Cheshire. I attended the Kiel School of Gynaecological Endoscopy in Germany. My areas of special interest are menopause, PMS, subfertility and laparoscopic surgery including hysterectomy and surgery for endometriosis and pelvic pain. I am the deputy lead for gynaecology oncology at Leighton Hospital. I am the menopause lead for the trust and run an NHS menopause clinic at Leighton Hospital. I am also a British Fertility Society accredited specialist in pelvic ultrasound.

In view of my extensive expertise in reproductive endocrinology and reproductive/laparoscopic surgery, I am in a unique position to help women navigate complex problems in both gynaecology and menopause. I see patients with heavy periods, pelvic masses and fibroids, subfertility, pelvic pain, endometriosis, polycystic ovarian syndrome, menopausal symptoms, PMS and vulval disease. I help women with menopausal symptoms with a background history and treatment for endometriosis, pelvic pain, PCOS, cancer including strong family history of breast cancer and gynaecological cancers.

As part of the gynaecology and menopause service at the Regency, I offer ultrasound scans, Mirena IUS insertion and hysteroscopy. I also offer treatment for severe PMS and PMDD symptoms including hysterectomy (keyhole). Various blood tests including oestrogen levels, testosterone and FSH are available if needed. I completed my Diploma in Management in 2012 from the LSE. I am involved in training candidates for the MRCOG examinations. I was the departmental lead for undergraduate medical education with Manchester Medical School.

I completed my Diploma in Management in 2012 from the London School of Economics. I am actively involved in recruiting candidates for training posts at both local and regional levels as well as being a chair and panellist at consultant interviews in my trust. I am a mentor for newly appointed consultants.

I am a published author and speaker at conferences. I was the Principal Investigator at Leighton Hospital for the GaPP2 trial (multi-centre randomised controlled trial looking at Gabapentin in pelvic pain). My recent article on Menopause and Mental Health published in the RCOG journal – The Obstetrician and Gynaecologist has been cited many times.

I live in Knutsford with my family. My wife is also obstetrician-gynaecologist based at a different hospital. Both my sons are avid cricketers playing in the Cheshire league, my eldest is a wicket keeper batsman and my youngest is a ‘pace bowler’. The final member of our family is a very vivacious and lively cockapoo.
