"I am delighted to be working with Spire Healthcare. Their facilities are first class, they genuinely care about the quality of care they offer and their standard of healthcare is excellent."
I am a Colorectal and General Surgical Consultant working at one of the busiest colorectal surgery units in the country. I am a resectional cancer surgeon but also offer benign bowel resections, hernia surgery, coloproctology and lower gastrointestinal surgery services. I perform the majority of my surgery using minimal access techniques, utilising a laparoscopic or robotic approach.
I was a commissioned medical officer in the Royal Navy from 2007 to 2015, completing sea tours with NATO and supporting counter-narcotics and counter-piracy operations in the North Indian Ocean. I also completed an operational tour in Camp Bastion, Afghanistan as a surgical registrar.
I specialise in abdominal surgery. I offer surgery for all abdominal and groin hernias and can offer both an open or laparoscopic approach, depending on the nature of the hernia. I have a wide experience in coloproctology, including the management of haemorrhoids (piles), fistula-in-ano, fissure-in-ano, pilonidal disease and excision of skin tags. I offer assessment and advice on abdominal pain, constipation, loose bowels, defaecatory disorders and bowel incontinence. I offer a colonoscopy and flexible sigmoidoscopy service. I offer major abdominal surgery for cancer and benign indications (diverticular disease or inflammatory bowel disease) on a case by case basis.
To date I have performed over 500 major bowel resections for cancer and benign indications. I have performed over 250 hernia repairs and have performed over 300 lower gastrointestinal endoscopies.
I am currently the Associate Colorectal Cancer Lead at University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust. I am also currently a consultant advisor to the "Safer Medicines Group" at University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust.

I live in Endon with my wife and two dogs, Montgomery, a Great Dane and Claude, a Bassett Hound. I live in a very old farmhouse which makes maintaining it one of my hobbies. I also enjoy maintaining and driving my classic car, a 1971 Citroen DS, photography and playing the guitar.
