I am a Consultant Vascular Surgeon at the Manchester Royal Infirmary. I was one of the first vascular surgeons to embrace minimally invasive techniques in the management of vascular disease.
I was one of the first consultants at Spire Manchester Hospital to carry out a VNUS procedure, and transformed the treatment of varicose veins from an inpatient procedure under a general anaesthetic with a painful protracted recovery to a minimally invasive treatment performed under local anaesthetic, as an outpatient procedure followed by a rapid, painless recovery.
I was also one of the first consultants to introduce branched and fenestrated stent-grafts to treat complex aneurysms of the aorta, remote endarterectomy for the minimally invasive treatment of blocked arteries in the leg to prevent amputations and outpatient treatment of varicose veins.
I am active in vascular research and I currently sit on the editorial board of the Annals of Vascular Surgery.
