Spire Regency unveils £5.5m development project
08 March 2018
A £5.5 million project that will see Spire Regency Hospital install the very latest in MRI scanners has just been given the go-ahead by East Cheshire Council.
The development will include the restructure of the radiology suite to house the new scanner, a brand new JAG Accredited endoscopy suite and upgrades to patient bedrooms.
The Siemens 1.5T Magnetom Area MRI scanner provides high-quality images and a faster scan time. It is also a bonus for people with claustrophobia as it has a ‘wide bore’ which means patients don’t need to be as enclosed as in older models. It is also much more comfortable for heavier patients.
Work will start in April and it is hoped all new facilities will be open to patients by the end of the year.
Hospital Director Sue Dobson said: “It really is an exciting time for the hospital. The new scanner will put us at the forefront of MRI technology while the new endoscopy suite will ensure a first class service for patients requiring further investigations and treatment. Healthcare is always moving forward and we think this new development shows our commitment in expanding and improving our hospital facilities.”
