I am a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust. My area of interests are all aspects of shoulder, elbow and knee reconstruction. My other interest includes general trauma with a focus on upper limb trauma.
I specialise in trauma and orthopaedic surgery with specific interest in sports injuries which includes; shoulder, elbow and knee reconstruction. I perform arthroplasty (joint replacements), and upper limb trauma surgery.
Following my training on BOTP, I undertook over two and a half years of specialist fellowship training in pursuit of my passion for sports medicine. I firstly completed a fellowship in the arthroscopy unit at The Royal Orthopaedic Hospital, Birmingham with Mr Samir Massoud and Mr Marcus Green. I then went onto the Pan Am Clinic in Winnipeg, Canada where I spent a year with Professor Peter MacDonald and Dr Jamie Dubberley doing sports surgery and upper limb reconstruction as well as soft tissue knee reconstruction. I consolidated my knowledge at the Perth Sports Surgery Fellowship (PSSF) with Mr Peter D’Alessandro and colleagues where I focused on all aspects of shoulder and upper limb surgery as well as soft tissue knee reconstruction.
In order to enhance my trauma experience, I spent three months doing a trauma fellowship at the Fiona Stanley Hospital in Perth before returning back to the UK and taking up Consultant position at Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust. I have also completed a visiting fellowship at the Centre Orthopédique Santy – Lyon, where I spent time with Dr Neyton and Dr Bertrand Sonnery-Cottet.
I enjoy teaching and training and am currently registered with the GMC as a recognised Educational Trainer. I train Specialist Registrars in trauma and orthopaedics from both Birmingham Orthopaedic Training Programme and Coventry and Warwickshire Programme as well as undertake regular teaching sessions for the Registrars on the BOTP. I also supervise Foundation Doctors, GPs and Core Surgical Trainees as an Assigned Educational Supervisor (AES) and as a Clinical Supervisor (CS). I previously, along with my colleagues, helped deliver a national course, basic biomechanics in Orthopaedics (BBiOrth) for the last 10 years.
