I trained at Southampton University Medical School, graduating in 1995. I undertook higher specialist training in Medicine and Gastroenterology in the Wessex region and completed a research fellowship in Clinical Nutrition at the Institute of Human Nutrition (Southampton University).
I was appointed as a Consultant Gastroenterologist at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital in 2006 and transferred to Southampton University Hospitals in 2010. I look after patients with a broad range of gastrointestinal problems and have a particular interest in inflammatory bowel disease, clinical nutrition and endoscopy. Working with Dr Mike Stroud, we both lead a regional intestinal failure service, managing patients with very complex gut problems.
I chair the British Artificial Nutrition Survey (BANS) and am a member of the British Society of Gastroenterology Small Bowel and Nutrition Committee and the British Association of Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (BAPEN) Council.
