I am a Consultant Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon, based in Hampshire, with over 20 years' experience. I deliver exceptional care to patients diagnosed with breast cancer by combining medical and surgical excellence along with an understanding of patients' individual emotional and physical challenges. I aim to stay at the forefront of oncoplastic breast surgery by offering the most advanced treatments as well as a deep commitment to patient safety and wellbeing.
I am passionate about achieving the best possible outcomes for every patient. My approach is centred on individualised care; taking the time to listen to each patient’s concerns, understand their unique circumstances, support their overall wellbeing, and craft a tailored treatment plan. Ensuring every patient feels heard, respected and confident in her care. Whilst recognising that breast cancer is a personal journey as well as a medical challenge, ensuring that all treatment options are fully explained, offering compassionate guidance at every stage.
I qualified from Imperial College London in 2001 and completed my training within the Wessex region prior to accepting a National Fellowship appointment in Oncoplastic Breast Surgery. I was appointed Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in 2011, and subsequently undertook a substantive Consultant position at the University Hospital Southampton (UHS) in 2012.
To date I have performed over 1,000 breast cancer procedures. These include breast cancer conserving surgery, mastectomy, breast reconstruction, breast symmetreising surgery, axilliary clearance and sentinel lymph node biopsy; performing breast cancer surgery for over 20 years in the NHS and more recently in the private practice.
As the Lead Clinician within the University Hospital Southampton Breast Unit, I established a specific focus on improving surgical outcomes and enhancing the output of the unit. Before being appointed to my current role as Trust Clinical Cancer Lead for University Hospital Southampton. In this role I am responsible for the delivery of cancer management pathways throughout the entirety of the University Hospital Southampton Trust, whilst also retaining clinical responsibilities as a Consultant Breast Surgeon.
I have also acted in an advisory capacity to Macmillan Cancer Support. And have been a member of the writing group for the Oncoplastic Breast Reconstruction, Guidelines for Best Practice.
