Specialises in
Virtual consultations:
I have been a consultant since 2010 and have a strong interest in Spinal disorders and have carried out a range of simple and complex spinal operations. I also have a very strong interest in treatment of trigeminal neuralgia and other neurovascular conflict syndromes such as hemifacial spasm, glossopharyngeal neuralgia etc and am proud to have introduced balloon compression treatment for trigeminal neuralgia at Southampton. I have performed several cases of microvascular decompression as well as balloon compression for trigeminal neuralgia. I have also initiated PENS (peripheral electrical nerve stimulation) therapy for intractable complex facial pain.
Apart from dealing with a range of spinal disorders, I have been actively setting up the functional neurosurgery practice at the Wessex Neurological Centre. I am currently the lead neurosurgeon for epilepsy surgery, chronic pain (spinal cord stimulators), intrathecal baclofen therapy and deep brain stimulation.
After training in neurosurgery from a prestigious institute in Bangalore (NIMHANS), India, I came to the UK in 2002. I did my training in Cardiff and Southampton, and after finishing CCST, I did a fellowship in functional neurosurgery from the Walton Centre for Neurology and Neurosurgery, Liverpool. I have been working as a consultant since 2010.
