MMed (O&G), FCOG (SA)
I have been trained in general obstetrics and gynaecology at the Tygerberg Academic Hospital and the University of Stellenbosch, Cape Town, South Africa (graduation 1994). I have also received further training in urogynaecology and pelvic floor dysfunction in Plymouth and London, as well as in Temple Texas, USA (1996-1998). I am on the Specialist Registrar in both South Africa (1994) and the United Kingdom (since 2003). My specific clinical interests are: urogynaecology, emergency gynaecology and menstrual dysfunction and any other aspect of general gynaecology.
I regularly update myself about new developments in my field of clinical practice. I strive to replicate the basic principles of good patient care (accurate diagnosis and evidence based therapy), which I employ in my NHS practice. I believe that the service I provide in the private sector is further enhanced by the absence of time limitations and financial constraints, which unfortunately shackle the state service.
I believe that in my dealings with a patient, her own interests are paramount and that any decisions taken about diagnosis and therapy are taken with the full participation of the patient, based on robust, evidence-based information and an open and frank discussion thereof.
I am a member of the Medical Advisory Committee for Spire Southampton Hospital.
