MB ChB, MD, FRCS
I graduated from Leeds University in 1989 following two years of research towards an MD. I did my initial training in Leeds and Bristol before joining the Wessex registrar training programme. I spent three years in dedicated colorectal training at Portsmouth, Southampton and Sydney, Australia. Since my consultant appointment in 2001, I have had a number of sabaticals to Hong Kong and Europe to establish an expertise in laparoscopic colorcetal surgery. As of January 2009 I have performed over 250 laparoscopic colorectal procedures with excellent results. All my data is audited locally and historically within the Wessex Laparoscopic Colorectal Group.
My practice covers all areas of laparoscopic colorectal surgery, with a main focus on colorectal cancer with a particular interest in low rectal surgery (using Lap TME). Other areas of interest include restorative proctocolectomy (pouch) for inflammatory bowel disease, colonoscopy and a wider interest in more minor perineal conditions including pilonidal disease. As a well trained General Surgeon I also perform hernia repairs and other minor & intermediate surgery.
