I am a Consultant Cardiologist at the Royal Surrey Hospital and am an expert in advanced cardiovascular imaging and heart failure.
I specialise in all areas of general cardiology, with particular expertise in complex echocardiography and cardiac magnetic resonance. I treat patients with a variety of symptoms, including chest pain, hypertension, hyperlipidaemia, palpitations, breathlessness and blackouts. I am experienced in dealing with a range of cardiac disorders, including coronary artery disease, heart failure, valvular heart disease, cardiomyopathy and arrhythmia.
I am clinical lead for cardio-oncology and one of the few specialists in the country in this field. Cardio-oncology involves looking after the cardiac needs of cancer patients working to reduce the cardiac side effects of cancer treatments, as well as the long term surveillance of individuals previously treated for cancer.
I am one of the few clinicians in the country with high volume experience in complex echocardiography, which includes transoesophageal echocardiography, stress echocardiography, contrast echocardiography and three dimensional echocardiography. These techniques allow a detailed evaluation of patients with suspected coronary artery disease, valvular heart disease, and disease of the heart muscle. I am passionate about medical education and am an educational and clinical supervisor to a range of junior doctors.
I completed my subspecialty training in major London hospitals including St George’s, St Thomas’ and Bart’s Hospital. Prior to my specialist training, I undertook a prestigious heart failure fellowship with the world-renown Professor Cleland. I undertook my PhD in complex echocardiography and carotid ultrasonography with Imperial College London, leading to a large volume of high impact journal publications and I continue to publish in the field of cardiovascular imaging.
I regularly teach medical students from St George's Medical School, and the University of the Caribbean. I provide educational talks to colleagues and local GPs.
